Alien Spirituality

Is spirituality a uniquely human attribute and experience? Do intelligent non-human beings exist and, if so, do such beings have religious beliefs or even souls?
At least one major world religion has indicated that its answer to such questions may well be no, yes, and yes, in that order. In a recent interview with Italian newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican’s chief astronomer, the Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, said there is no conflict between believing in extraterrestrial intelligent life and believing in God.
“How can we exclude that life has developed elsewhere?” Rev Funes asks, a point based on faith and logic, given the extraordinarily high number of planets with suns and atmospheres similar to those of earth.

Terminator Salvations Concept Art
Finally, some news for Terminator 4 (Ok, Terminator Salvations: The End Begins would be the correct term but hell, it’s just to long to call it that). It seams they started with principal photography for T4. This is the first image released to public:
I really like the greenish atmosphere and the flayer is exactly like in the first and the second movie. Hope to see some more and better done stuff in the days to come…Read more about it on T4’s official blog.

I found this great list of geeky pickup lines on TopFive.com. Some of them are so funny that I’m tempted to use them myself. You know, to break the ice, make her almost choke of laughter or something.

RIP - Charlton Heston
Charlton Heston, who won best actor Oscar for his performance in Ben Hur died on Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills, aged 84. In our, science fiction, niche he was known for his role in Planet of the apes, one of the best sci-fi movies of all time.
From Wikipedia - Heston was known for playing heroic roles, such as Moses in The Ten Commandments, Colonel George Taylor in Planet of the Apes and Judah Ben-Hur in Ben-Hur. Early in his career, he was one of a handful of Hollywood actors to publicly speak out against racism and was active in the civil rights movement. During the latter part of his movie career, he starred in films such as The Omega Man and Soylent Green, which have a strong environmental message. He was president of the National Rifle Association from 1998 to 2003.

Newbie’s Guide to Science Fiction and Fantasy and Genre Conventions
Have you ever been on a sci-fi (or fantasy, horror - genre) convention? I have, but just a couple of times. Here in Croatia conventions are not that great and they serve as a platform for drinking and LARP games, which is all right, if that’s just a part of the program - not all of it. My frustrations aside, I do think many people have wrong ideas about conventions and what they’re supposed to look like.

June Williams from Buzzy Multimedia Publishing wrote an excellent article about conventions that a lot of organizers should read. She covered Litterary conventions, media conventions, gaming conventions, horror conventions, comic conventions, etc.
“June Williams has worked the convention circuit as a professional and been to scores of conventions as a fan over a period of more than 25 years.” - She knows what she’s saying!!!
